Some 300 spectators massed in the stand and along the handrail of the Jean-Gallet stadium. A crowd of curious people came to attend the first home outing of C’Chartres Football version 2022-23, this Saturday July 30, against Créteil, a relegated National versed in another group of N2.
These spectators saw Jean-Pierre Papin’s squad win their second preseason match 3-0 – it’s good for confidence – and offer some interesting things.
The reaction of Jean-Pierre Papin, the coach of C’Chartres Football
The first period, played at a high pace, ended in a 0-0, but proved to be the most consistent. In an eleven (in 4-4-2) which could resemble the one which will start the championship on Saturday August 20 in Saint-Malo, with no less than seven recruits in its ranks, Chartres has mastered. The Clément Chantôme – Kévin Bru tandem, invaluable at the start of the game when Créteil exerted high pressure, helped him a lot. The new Chartrain captain and the ex-player of Versailles, impressive with serenity and technical ease, shone in midfield. Even distilling a few caviars.

Behind, Diaranké Fofana, who however missed once, and Brice Négouai won most of the duels, preventing, with the support of Sacha Lemarié and Arnaud Archimbaud on the sides, the Ile-de-France residents from creating chances. Solid, the CCF was also generous. But the speed of the powerful Loïc Gagnon, very hard-hitting on the left, and the activity of the center-forward Alexis Gouletquer, not stingy in calls, did not allow him to materialize. The first lost a face-to-face with Regulus, the opposing goalkeeper, the second forgot to try his luck at 18m and was too short on a cross from… Gagnon.
Three different scorers
It was therefore necessary to wait for the second period to see goals. While Jean-Pierre Papin, like his counterpart Stéphane Masala, changed almost all his players in a choice of squad review, the CCF more often left the ball, without being worried. And if their level has dropped a notch, the debates have been more prolific. Bryan Mauduit, a volunteer, opened the scoring all by himself with a cross shot (1-0, 51′). Matthieu Villette, launched in depth by a player Esteban Gonçalves, scored the 2-0 goal (65′). Then the Canadian on trial Dujon Martin, although not very convincing, initialed the Chartres success with a header after an attempt by Mauduit.
A fairly encouraging 3-0 to be confirmed on Tuesday (5 p.m.), in the same place, against a selection of players looking for a project.
