The Ministry of Public Administration and Security announced that it held a meeting with 31 related organizations yesterday (6th) presided over by the head of the Disaster Management Office to discuss response plans for each institution, as Typhoon Kanun is expected to affect Korea this week.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Security requested that the cooperation system between related agencies be reviewed once again so that vulnerable facilities such as underpasses can be quickly controlled.

In addition, related ministries were asked to conduct an emergency inspection of national and local government facilities to thoroughly prepare in advance.

Lee Han-kyung, head of the Disaster Management Office at the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, said, “In preparation for typhoons moving north, related agencies should take all-out measures to prevent loss of life through preemptive control and evacuation of dangerous areas such as areas with landslide concerns, old reservoirs, and underpasses.”

“Please keep a close eye on the weather conditions and refrain from visiting dangerous areas such as coastal promenades, seashore rocks, breakwaters, and riversides that are in the area affected by typhoons.”

The Ministry of Public Administration and Security maintained the ‘severe’ level for the heat wave crisis warning level, and lowered the emergency level of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters from level 2 to level 1 as of 6:00 pm yesterday.
