“This means that the increase in the premium of VGZ is lower than the premium increase announced by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport on Budget Day”, says Karien van Gennip, chairman of the board of Coöperatie VGZ. “By investing in sensible care for years, together with the partners in the Network of Sensible Care, we are able to offer a competitive premium every year. Despite the corona crisis, we have also succeeded this year in increasing our premium for 2021. We have been able to continue our stable premium development, partly thanks to the use of our reserves. “
At an early stage of the corona crisis, VGZ, together with the other health insurers, jointly provided healthcare providers with financial support for the disappearance of regular care. “This support was needed to meet ongoing (fixed) costs and to ensure that patients can continue to receive care during and after the crisis.” Health insurers have also reimbursed additional costs, which were necessary to scale up the number of IC places, organize protection for staff and realize special nursing places for rehabilitating corona patients.
