JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – The Indonesian Consumers Foundation or YLKI asked the government to provide new fuel oil (BBM) which is cheap and environmentally friendly, if they still want to abolish Premium and Pertalite.
YLKI Chief Executive, Tulus Abadi, said that the plan to abolish Premium BBM is actually not a new thing.
The reason, he said, was that Premium BBM was removed, especially in 2017, but was revived in 2018 just before the general election.
“Historically, Premium fuel types were actually abolished, especially in 2017, in Java and Bali, but unfortunately, by 2018, the policy was annulled and Premium BBM was again implemented,” Tulus said in a video statement received by KompasTV, Sunday (12/26/2020). /2021).
Not only that, Tulus also mentioned that during the first volume of the administration of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), the oil and gas mafia reform team headed by Faisal Basri had also recommended removing the existence of Premium subsidized fuel in Indonesia.
“This means, from a historical perspective as well as actual policy, this is not something new that the government will abolish Premium BBM,” he explained.
Meanwhile, in terms of quality, Pemium type fuel is considered not good and can damage the environment. Because according to Tulus, premium has not met Euro standards.
Moreover, Jokowi said Tulus, is committed where reducing emissions from fossil fuels is absolutely necessary.

“Therefore, from an environmental point of view, I think it is absolute when pushing for fuel that is more environmentally friendly so that it has a lower impact on the environment. So the emissions are lower,” he said.
