KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. The government is committed to reducing long-term emissions, for that Premium and Pertalite fuel types will be removed. Because the two types of fuel each still contains RON 88 for Premium and RON 90 for Pertalite.

However, the Indonesian Vehicle Industry Association (Gaikindo) rate, the plan to eliminate the two types of fuel will not affect domestic car production and sales.

According to Jongkie Sugiarto, Chair I of the Indonesian Vehicle Industry Association (Gaikindo), the specifications of car engines used in Indonesia are now capable of adopting BBM RON 91.

“The cars here also have Euro 2 and even now Euro 4, The Euro 2 should also use BBM with RON 92 and above,” Jongkie told Kontan.co.id, Saturday (6/27).

Jongkie rate, if implemented so, the elimination of Premium and Pertalite fuel types will not have a significant impact on the interest of the people of Indonesia to buy a car.

According to him, car users in Indonesia already have a better awareness to use environmentally friendly BBM.

Meanwhile Bob Azam, Director of External Relations at PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN), said that currently Toyota vehicles manufactured and sold in Indonesia have Euro 4 engine specifications for fuel.

The quality of BBM for Euro 4 emission standards is considered equivalent to BBM with an octane rating of 91 and above. A similar sentiment was also expressed by Yusak Billy, Marketing Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor, where Honda car manufacturers have Euro 4 standards so it is recommended to use fuel above RON 91.

“So, there is no need for adjustments for Honda cars if the rules are applied,” he told Kontan.co.id.

Amelia Tjandra, Marketing Director of PT Astra Daihatsu Motor, said that all Daihatsu vehicles have also followed the standard regulations for the quality of exhaust emissions regulated by the government.

The impact of the elimination of Premium and Pertalite fuel types, according to Amelia, will be more felt on the side of consumers as vehicle users. Where the cost of fuel that consumers spend will be higher than usual.

DFSK Indonesia Public Relations & Digital Manager Arvianne Dahniarny said the impact of removing the two types of fuel at affordable prices might have an impact on the efficiency of its consumers, especially entrepreneurs who need operational vehicles.

Meanwhile from the engine side of the DFSK car, Arvianne said that for Supercab commercial vehicles, a minimum of RON 90 of fuel has been recommended, so if you use a higher RON the engine performance will be better.
