Composer Raimonds Pauls told about the program: “The new program“ Summer Moods ”was created in the first months of this year. I invited my friend Jānis Peter to write a poem about the summer solstice, the time of Midsummer, about celebrating our holiday. He made great poems, which, among other things, are full of humor and irony, all I had to do was create appropriate music. The premiere of the song is the ensemble of actors “Drama”, who are my old friends from a young age! (laughs) These are songs to listen to on Midsummer’s Eve, but as people will fall in love with them over time, it’s hard to say right now – listen to the concert! ”

In the new program “Summer Moods”, the actors will both sing and speak the poetry of Jānis Peteris, which especially enriches the festive time. It will also feature a poetry tribute to composer Marģers Zariņš, which uses ancient place names that we no longer use on a daily basis. At the end of the concert, Paul’s favorite songs will also be heard, which the lovers will be able to sing along to.

“Maestro and Jānis Peteris have a wonderful Līgo cycle, full of mood. It has both playful and evocative notes, as well as beautiful music with a serious and deep meaning, ”said actress Dita Lūriņa. “The newly created songs try to awaken a real celebration, which is recorded in our skin and blood and is more than just lighting a campfire. They are called to hurry to sing, swing, rejoice so that life vibrates and the swing is truly alive. ”
