Li Qiang meets with Iran’s First Vice President Mukhbel

On the afternoon of October 26, 2023 local time, Premier Li Qiang met with Iranian First Vice President Mukhbel during the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states in Bishkek.
Li Qiang said that over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Iran, the relations between the two countries have withstood the test of vicissitudes in the international situation and have always moved forward steadily. This year, President Xi Jinping met with President Leahy twice and reached a series of important consensuses. China is willing to work with Iran to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, continuously enrich the connotation of China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership, and better benefit the two peoples.
Li Qiang pointed out that China will, as always, firmly support Iran in safeguarding national sovereignty, territorial integrity and national dignity, and resolutely oppose any external forces interfering in Iran’s internal affairs. Both sides should implement the comprehensive cooperation plan between the two countries, promote the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”, strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges in education, culture and tourism, think tanks, etc., and promote China-Iran cooperation to continuously achieve new results. China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with Iran in multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICS, practice true multilateralism, and safeguard the common interests of developing countries.
Mukhber said that China is Iran’s comprehensive strategic partner and the friendship between the two countries has a long history. Iran thanks China for its help in its economic and social development, is firmly committed to deepening Iran-China relations, and is willing to work with China to build the “Belt and Road”, strengthen connectivity and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, deepen mutual collaboration within multilateral frameworks, and promote Iran-China relations. The relationship continues to develop in depth.
