Gareth Bale‘s season has had its share of ups and downs, but now Tottenham Hotspur are so pleased with him that they are exploring the option of keeping him for another year.
The Welshman has a contract with Real Madrid until June 30, 2022, and in theory will return to The whites at the end of the season to decide his future.
Bale himself has previously said that the plan was only ever to be at Spurs for a year and then return to Real Madrid after the European Championship.
At one point it also looked unlikely that the north London club would have any interest in retaining his services after some disappointing performances.
However, since Jose Mourinho’s departure in particular, Bale‘s form has picked up and he has four goals in his last two Premier League games.
While Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is busy searching for a new manager, he also intends to attempt to provide the incoming boss with Bale‘s services for the 2021/22 campaign, the Daily Mail report.
Much will likely depend on how open Real Madrid are to negotiating another loan deal, as they may be more open to selling rather than letting the 31-year-old run down the final year of his contract.
