A trio of Premier League sides are tracking Kalvin Phillips with a view to signing the Manchester City midfielder on loan for the season.
Everton, Ipswich City and Fulham have all expressed interest in the 28-year-old in recent weeks as he looks to narrow down his immediate future.
Phillips, who Metropolis signed from Leeds United for £42m two years ago, has struggled to fit into Pep Guardiola’s style of play at the Etihad Stadium.
The England international spent an unsuccessful loan spell at West Ham United during the latter stages of last season and missed out on a European Championship place.
Phillips traveled to the Metropolis’ preseason tour of the United States this summer and spent the last two games in central defense.
Kalvin Phillips will be looking to regain his form after a difficult 2023-24 season at Manchester City and on loan at West Ham.
The midfielder took part in his club’s pre-season tour, but was unable to participate in the Group Defend before the start of the next campaign.
But he was unable to make an appearance from the bench during Saturday’s Group Defend win over Manchester United and Guardiola revealed that “Kalvin knows the situation” regarding his place in the team.
Sean Dyche is an admirer of Phillips as Fulham and Ipswich look to bolster their midfield ranks.
He had impressed as a centre-back for Metropolis, and Guardiola believed a broader view of the game ahead of him benefited Phillips’ performance.
Phillips still has four years left on his contract at Metropolis.
