Premier League Rumors, Football | Championship club wants Haitam Aleesami

Haitam Aleesami (29) could end up in English football.

The Norwegian national team defender with 30 international matches for Norway is wanted in England. According to Nettavisen, the English Championship club Blackburn are very interested in signing the Norwegian.

Aleesami is without a contract after he terminated his contract with the French club Amiens in July, after the club relegated to Ligue 2 in France.

The national team player left the French club after only one season in Ligue 1, after the club was ordered to relegation as a result of the league being stopped due to the corona outbreak.

Now English football can be the next stop for the national team defender. The online newspaper confirms that Blackburn is interested in bringing in the Norwegian.

The online newspaper has been in contact with agent Mike Kjølø. He does not want to comment on the information. Aleesami himself did not respond to our inquiries on Sunday.

Important matches with the national team

Next week, Aleesami and the rest of the Norwegian national team will play in the very important European Championship playoff match against Serbia at Ullevaal.

Last week, the left-back trained with Lillestrøm to stay in shape before the international matches with Norway.

Aleesami told Eurosport that a transfer can happen quickly, even before the Serbia match on Thursday next week.

– It is nearing the end of the transition window, so one day you may suddenly travel down, drive medically and sign, and then home to the collection. That’s going fast. Sometimes you don’t have to go down either. Then you can drive medically in Oslo. Anything can happen in two to three days, Aleesami said about the future of the channel.

The online newspaper knows that Aleesami rejected an offer from Greek AEK Athens earlier this summer.

The transfer window closes on October 5, but since the 29-year-old is without a contract, he does not need to stress about signing for a new club.

The deadline for registering players for the Champions League and Europa League is set by Uefa to 6 October. Aleesami must therefore sign for a new club before the transfer window closes, if he is to participate in European tournaments, which at the moment does not seem very likely.

As is well known, Blackburn do not play in any European tournaments this season, and in the Championship, a player who comes from a non-contractual situation can play for the team, even if he who signs after the transfer window closes.

Usable start

Blackburn has a good tradition for Norwegian players. Morten Gamst Pedersen and Henning Berg are two of a total of eight Norwegians who have visited the club over the years.

The club has had a usable start to the Championship season with two wins, a draw and one loss in the first four games.

They are currently in 6th place.

On Saturday, they played 0-0 against Cardiff at home at Ewood Park.
