Considering quarantine

The situation and possible shutdown are currently considered a hypothetical situation, but the UK government is considering quarantining the English city of Leicester as a result of an increase in coronary cases.

With the suburbs, the city has a population of about half a million. If it is shut down, it is the first time during the pandemic that it is happening in a single area of the UK.

Sunday Times first reported that the authorities are considering isolating the city over the next few days. The reason for this is that 658 new cases of infection have been registered in the Leicester area in the two weeks up to 16 June.

This represents around 25 percent of the city’s total 2,494 cases of infection.

Interior Minister Priti Patel acknowledges the opposite BBC Sunday that the government is considering such a measure.

Sunday, the British announced health Ministry about 311,151 confirmed cases of infection in the UK, up 901 from Saturday. 43,550 people have died with the virus in the country, an increase of 36 last day. The figure includes only patients who died in hospitals and nursing homes and who had tested positive for the coronavirus.

The UK ranks 5th in the world in total confirmed cases of infection.
