Several clubs in the Premier League are monitoring Steven Bergwijn, Fabrizio Romano reported on Monday afternoon. Transfer market expert calls Ajax attacker ‘one to watch‘ due to financial need in Amsterdam to sell.

In January, West Ham United had already shown serious interest in Bergwijn, but the talks did not lead to an agreement with Ajax on a winter transfer for the winger.

Next summer there is a good chance that several Premier League clubs will report to Amsterdam, Romano knows. He is said to be on the list of several trainers and Ajax might be interested in selling Bergwijn due to his high wages.

According to an Italian journalist, a price tag of around 23 million euros is hanging around the neck of Bergwijn, who still has a contract in the Johan Cruijff Arena until mid-2027.

Ajax bought the 26-year-old player from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2022 for a sum of more than 31 million euros. So Romano does not expect that the Amsterdammers will now be able to profit from a possible resale.

In the current Eredvisie season, Bergwijn made 23 appearances, scoring 12 times and providing 4 assists. Last weekend the striker was the most important in the match against Almere City, which they beat 3-0 thanks to his hat trick.

Next summer, Bergwijn will most likely go to the European Championship with the Dutch national team. Special performance in Germany can indeed affect the asking price.
