Only two tickets to take for the next C1: Chelsea, Liverpool and Leicester, a trio grouped together in one point, hope to join the two Manchester, City (champion) and United (dolphin) before the clap at the end of Sunday (15:00 GMT).
The Reds, 4th ahead of Leicester thanks to a better goal difference, want to end their disappointing season on a high note by hosting Crystal Palace at Anfield, in front of 10,000 supporters.
Liverpool have come a long way: Jurgen Klopp’s men were eight points from 4th place in mid-March but have since taken 23 points out of a possible 27 and have remained unbeaten for nine matches.
“It was an incredibly intense season, nothing will change that (…) but we now have in our hands the possibility of making a top end of the season,” warned the German coach of the Reds.
The Leicester Foxes, fifth and recent winners of the FA Cup, for their part challenge Tottenham, hoping not to reproduce the same scenario as last summer: deprived of C1 by finishing fifth after their defeat against Manchester United in of the last day.
In front, the Blues (3rd) have their destiny in hand before facing Aston Villa. If Thomas Tuchel’s players are overtaken at the last minute, they will have one last chance to catch the C1 by winning the current edition, on May 29 in the final against City.
This scenario would open the doors of the Europa League (C3) to the 6th and 7th of the Premier League; the 8th would go to the Europa League Conference (C4). Otherwise, the 5th and 6th will go in C3 and the 7th, in C4.
Whatever happens, West Ham (6th) is off to a good start in the Europa League, with three points ahead of Tottenham and Everton, traveling to Manchester City, already looking to the C1 final in Porto.
