Ukraine is ready to export grain and is waiting for signals from partners regarding the start of transportation, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Facebook.
“We are ready for the export of Ukrainian grain. We are waiting for signals from our partners regarding the start of transportation. It is important to us that we continue to be the guarantor of global food security. While someone takes the lives of other countries by blocking the Black Sea, we give them a chance to survive,” the statement said.
As stated in the press service of the president, during his working visit to the Odesa region, Zelensky got acquainted with the loading of Ukrainian grain into a ship for further export.
The president has indicated that exports can start in the next few days.
“Our country is fully prepared. We have given all the signals to our partners – the UN and Turkey – and our military personnel guarantee the security situation. The Minister of Infrastructure is in direct contact with the Turkish side and the UN, we are waiting for a signal from them that we can start,” said Zelensky.
He expressed confidence that the unlocking of Ukraine’s grain will avoid product shortages, as well as famine and political chaos in countries that are in dire need of food products.
