“Pregnant Woman Punched in Stomach on Bus in Haugesund: Suspect Arrested”

On Friday afternoon, a pregnant woman was punched in the stomach after a row on board a bus in Haugesund.

A pregnant woman in Haugesund has been sent to hospital after she was punched in the stomach by a man in his 40s, the police in Sør-Vest wrote on Twitter.

The police came to a bus stop after a report of a disturbance on board a bus, and have the man under control.

Operations manager Jøran Solheim tells VG at 15:02 that the man has been arrested.

– A pregnant woman was beaten, and it happened on board a bus. As we see it, there is no relationship between the victim and the man who has been arrested. We must return to why this happened and the background. The police have spoken to the man, are interviewing witnesses at the scene, and are collecting video of what has happened, says Solheim.

He says that the woman was taken to hospital for follow-up and a check-up, but that the extent of the damage is unknown.

– The man has been arrested by the lawyer on duty. He is in hospital with security, says Solheim just before 4pm.

The bus company has no comment on the violent incident and refers it to the police.
