VIVA – Sun will eventually die. However, how and when it occurs is still a matter of scientific debate. One study showed that all humans on Earth would die long before the death of the Sun.
According to a study in the journal Nature Astronomy earlier this year, the Sun will die in about 10 billion years.
Stars like the Sun begin to die when they have burned all their hydrogen fuel. At this point they develop and become a type of very large star called a red giant.
It is estimated that this stage will occur in our Sun in about five billion years. The sun is expected to expand in such a way that it will swallow Mars and Earth as if expanding into a red giant, as quoted from the site The Sun, Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
“Humans are expected to die long before that, unless we can find a way to leave Earth elsewhere. A 2018 study showed that at this rate humans only have about a billion years left,” reads the journal Nature Astronomy.
The reason is because the Sun is predicted to be 10 percent brighter every billion years and this could create some major problems for life on Earth. Such an increase would vaporize the oceans and water resources.
The study also shows that when the Sun is done with its red giant stage, it will become a white dwarf and then end up as a planetary nebula. That means the Sun will end up as a glowing shell of hot gas.
