  • Kassel: The Kasseler Verkehrsgesellschaft announces advance sales on its website, which are expected to start on May 23rd. The ticket can probably be bought at the ticket machines, from the bus driver and in all sales outlets.

  • Metronome: The discounted travel ticket can be purchased at the sales points at the counter from Monday, May 23, 2022. Advance sales at the company’s own Metronome ticket machines will start on June 1st.
  • München: The Munich Transport Company (MVG) announced the start of advance sales for the 9-euro ticket for Sunday, May 22nd.
  • Northwest Railway: From Monday, May 23, 2022, in all ticket offices.

Criticism of the 9-euro ticket: cheap monthly ticket has now become a friendly holiday ticket

Even though criticism of the 9-euro ticket came up recently from Bremen, Bremen Senator Maike Schaefer (Greens), chairwoman of the state department heads, praised the monthly ticket as a “great opportunity” for local public transport. According to Schaefer, the ticket is also absolutely necessary as a climate-friendly answer to the tank discount for diesel and petrol. However, other politicians also made it clear that the countries would now face a major effort. Schleswig-Holstein’s department head Bernd Buchholz (FDP) complained that the 9-euro ticket had now become a “friendly holiday ticket” that was also valid nationwide, and he warned that the coasts could now be overrun.

While the 9-euro ticket promises cheap travel for three months, the Federal Council and Bundestag have also launched other parts of the relief package. Citizens in Germany can look forward to a tank discount from June 1st, a child bonus, a subsidy to Hartz IV and an energy flat rate of 300 euros.
