Fernando Hoyos and his brother Humberto hurry to catch the train to happiness, they said.
And it is that for three days they will be able to stay with their 92-year-old mother, who is waiting for them in Virginia, with the table set.
Fernando Hoyos travels to Virginia and this is what he told us:
“It’s the best to have a mother, a special mother like ours, a fighter, a sacrificer, a warrior as we say, so our goal is that, our purpose today, to be with my mother, to be with my brother, the reunited family, thank this country that has welcomed us and the Lord that we are all alive and that we can be together for a while.
Like them, according to triple A, an estimated 54.5 million Americans would travel 50 miles or more to be with their loved ones at Thanksgiving dinner, an increase of 1.5% over last year 2021.
Puerto Ricans Florita and Carlos, who have been together for 49 years, came from Virginia to join their three children and six grandchildren in Westchester, New York. They have so much to be thankful for every day of the year.
And what are you thankful for? We asked Carlos Cosme, who traveled to Westchester, here in New York:
“For all the good they have given us, for our grandchildren, for the life we have led and for my wife, who is the ‘titan of the plain’”.
– And you?
“I thank you for health because my children are fine, because they are good children”.
Other figures provided indicate that 49 million people are expected to travel by car, 2.5% less than 2019 levels before the pandemic.
About 4.5 million Americans will travel by air.
Meanwhile, more than 1.5 million passengers will travel by train and bus to meet their families and, of course, eat the delicacies that are prepared.
Florita Cosme replies for her husband:
“He’ll eat turkey, I’ll eat salmon, and there it is turkey though.”
– And no Latin food, rice and peas?
“You know,” he replies.

“You know it too…”, adds Florita.
This holiday is expected to become the third highest traveler volume since 2000.
And as always, the main recommendation that triple A makes is that if you intend to travel, leave home on time, so that as we said before I have not left you stranded, neither the train nor, worse still, the airplane .
