Not only chatting with family and doing fun activities, New Year’s Eve is also the right time to pray for a better life in 2022.

Here’s a catholic prayer to welcome the new year that you and your family can say together when you get together, as quoted iKatolik.

Opening prayer when welcoming the new year in Catholicism

God the Father in heaven, we thank you for the opportunity to pray together as a family.

We believe that the Lord Jesus is present in our midst right now, according to His words, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in the midst of them.”

We believe, Jesus, that You hear the prayers we offer to You.

Lord Jesus, You are the center of the Holy Family. Not only because You are God and man, but because to the end of Your life You are the son of Mary and Joseph.

Help us to understand that in Christian families we need Your love. Give us the grace of true love in our families so that we are willing to sacrifice for one another, because You teach us such love.

Father’s Prayer (by Mr / Papa)

Lord Jesus, I am grateful for the family You have given me. I beg that I can love my family with all my heart.

In my daily busyness, help me to give them my time. Give me love that comes from You, love as You love Your Church.

Mother’s Prayer (by Mother/Mama)

Lord Jesus, I am grateful for the family You have given me. I ask that I may serve my husband and children with the love that comes from You.

Grant me humility and help me to be a peacemaker for our family, so that there will always be joy and peace in it.

Prayers for Father and Mother

O Lord, we ask You to guide us in educating and raising our children, that we may direct them to You.

Bless their efforts in seeking knowledge, in good association and strengthen them in the face of temptations around them.

Oh God, we are grateful for the old people You have given us. We ask You to guide them in guiding us to our future.

Protect them from danger and all evil, and give them adequate health and fortune, and wisdom according to Your will.

Help us to live according to Your commandments, obey our parents and love them and our brothers and sisters.

Dear Mother Mary, Mother of Christ and our Mother, help us to learn to draw strength from the devotion to the Holy Family that God has given as an example for us.

Whether in Bethlehem, in exile to Egypt, in Nazareth or in Jerusalem, Your Holy Family has always been a haven of peace.

Pray for us, O Mother, that the peace that comes from obedience to carrying out the commandments of God, may always be in our families.

Pray for us so that we can readily always obey the will of God so that in our lives together, we are not selfish.

But keep and preserve as Yours all the property that God has entrusted to us, for one day we will be questioned by Him about our responsibility to use all that.

God of all grace and wisdom, grant us grace to live together in holy peace and happiness.

Show us how to live patiently and kindly, not easily harsh words, and quick to forgive each other.

May we be like the Holy Family in Nazareth–simple and peace-loving, always diligent in helping our fellowmen, with joy in carrying out our duties in the Church and in our community.

That’s a series of Catholic prayers to welcome the new year. Invite your family and friends to pray so that God will always bless us all with support and protection.
