6 Sunnah Practices Before Eid Prayers
There are several practices that Rasulullah SAW performed before performing the Eid prayers. Quoted from the book Fiqih Sunnah 2 by Sayyid Sabiq, the following is the practice of sunnah before the Eid prayer:
1. Do not eat before Eid prayer
It was narrated by Budairah that the Prophet SAW did not leave on Eid al-Fitr before eating first and he did not eat on Eid al-Adha except after returning home (from Eid prayers).
2. Take a shower before leaving for the prayer place
Before praying Eid al-Adha, it is sunnah to take a bath first. This refers to the narration of Ibn Majah, “That the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam bathed on the day of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.”.
3. Wear the Best Clothes and Fragrance
It is mentioned in the narration of Jabir bin Abdillah ra, “Rasulullah SAW had a very nice robe that he always wore on two feasts and on Fridays.” (HR. Ibn Abdil Bar and Ibn Khuzaimah).
It is also mentioned in the hadith narrated by Al Hakim, from Al Hasan bin Ali ra. his grandson said: “The Prophet SAW told us to wear the best clothes and the best fragrance you have on the two feasts.” (HR. Al-Hakim).
4. Passing a different path when leaving and coming home to pray
Referring to the hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah ra, “When the Prophet Muhammad SAW went to pray Ied (Hari Raya), when he returned, he took a different path from the path he took when he went.” (HR. Ibn Majah). However, when passing the same road it is still allowed.
5. Increase Takbir when leaving the house to the place of Eid prayer
Narrated in Bukhari, Umar ra recited takbir in his sermon in Mina and was heard by the people in the mosque and they followed his takbir, even the people in the market also recited takbir so that it thundered in Mina.
6. Cannot Cut Nails and Hair
“Whoever wants to make a sacrifice and when he has entered the beginning of Dzulhijjah (1 Dzulhijjah), then he should not cut his hair and nails until he has sacrificed.” (HR. Muslim).
Related to this, some scholars argue that the prohibition applies to people who want to sacrifice on the day of Eid al-Adha. Meanwhile, Imam Syafii is of the opinion that cutting nails and hair is makruh.
Thus, information prayer schedule Jakarta and its surroundings today 9 June 2022. Hopefully useful.
