Pray especially for the differently abled; Pope Francis’ prayer for the month of December

Vatican City: Pope Francis has called for special prayers for those suffering from physical difficulties in the month of December. The Pope said that people with disabilities should be the focus of society and there should be programs to increase their active participation.

Pope Francis asked Christians to pray for the disabled in a video released Tuesday alongside his monthly prayer intention for the universal church. In the video, the Pope reminded us that people with disabilities are the most vulnerable among us.

Pope Francis has urged civil institutions to launch projects that provide access to places where people with physical disabilities can express their talents, such as education, work and creativity. The Pope said that people with disabilities should be included in the society and accompany them with a big heart. The Pope asked us to change our mentality a little and give opportunities to those with disabilities in society and in the life of the Church.

The Worldwide Prayer Network, which prepares the Holy Father’s monthly prayer commission, issued a press release announcing that December will be observed as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
