Indonesia’s number one mixed doubles Praveen Jordan / Melati Daeva Oktavianti had to pick up the suitcase earlier. Following the defeat of the unseeded pair Denmark.
Praveen/Melati face Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Boje in the second round of the Indonesia Open 2021. Competing at the Bali International Convention Center, Thursday (25/11/2021), the second seed lost in two straight games 21-23, 14-21.
With this defeat, Praveen / Melati following four mixed doubles ‘Red and White’ entered the box. Indonesia now only hopes for the sixth seeded pair Hafiz Faisal/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja who are currently facing off against Takuro Hoki/Nami Matsuyama from Japan.
Against Christiansen/Boje, Praveen/Melati did not go through the first game well because they were always behind. Praveen/Melati managed to make up for the 13-14 deficit and then equalized the scores 20-20 and 21-21.
However, Christiansen/Boje managed to continue their momentum by winning two additional points and winning the first game at 23-21.
Praveen/Melati showed a tighter match. However, after the score was balanced 6-6, Praveen / Melati continued to fall behind.
Praveen / Melati then cut the distance to two points at 16-14. However, Christiansen/Bojo did not let the opponent get up to create a match point of 20-14.
A long rally occurred at the last point. Praveen’s return hit the net to give Christiansen/Boje a 21-14 win.
This result continues Praveen/Melati’s bad trend. In the Indonesia Masters tournament last week, Praveen / Melati also knocked out in the first round.
