Praveen Jordan and Melati Daeva Oktavianti’s Loss in Round II of Indonesia Open 2023

Two Indonesian mixed doubles Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti lost in round II Indonesia Open 2023. Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati also aground.

Praveen/Melati were unable to stop the Hong Kong pair Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet when they faced each other on Court 2 Istora GBK, Thursday (15/6) morning WIB. After fighting for 35 minutes, Praveen / Coach lost in two straight games with a score of 17-21, 14-21.

Praveen/Melati grabbed three straight points and took a 6-3 lead. Tang/Tse then followed to equalize the score 6-6, then 7-7, before opening the distance from Praveen/Melati with a 10-7 advantage. Praveen’s shot off the side line put Tang/Tse ahead 11-8 in the first interval.

Tang/Tse are further away from Praveen/Melati after gaining three additional points in a row. The distance between the two pairs reached seven points after Praveen/Melati made many unnecessary mistakes.

Praveen/Melati won three consecutive points to close the gap to 15-19. Praveen returns to the back corner wide, Tang/Tse earn game points 20-15.

Both pairs played equally strong in a 3-3 position. Tang/Tse then gained three points in a row to open the distance and were not overtaken by Praveen/Melati until the second interval with a score of 11-7.

Praveen/Melati found it increasingly difficult to get out of Tang/Tse’s pressure so they fell behind 10-18. The match point for Tang/Tse was 20-14. Then Tse Ying Suet took a drop shot to outwit Melati and win 21-14.

Rehan/Lisa kicked out by Danish couple

A similar fate was accepted Rehan/Lisa. Facing the Danish mixed doubles Mathias Thyrri/Amalie Magelund, Rehan/Lisa lost in two straight games 14-21, 16-21.

With the defeats of Rehan/Lisa and Praveen/Melati, Indonesia means that only Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari remains. Both of them will compete later against the Malaysian mixed doubles Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing.
