Indonesian men’s doubles Pramudya Kusumawardana / Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan step on the semifinals after eliminating the first seed. What’s the secret?
Competing at the Palacio de Deportesm Carolina Marin, Huelva, Pramudya / Yeremia must meet the first seed from Denmark, Kim Astrup / Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in the quarterfinals of the Super 300 tournament.
Opponents are more favored to win apart from being the first seed, from the second ranking this pair has a big difference in ranking. Astrup / Rasmussen is ranked 12th in the world, while Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo / Marcus Fernaldi Gideon’s coating is ranked 54th in the world.
Even so, Pramudya / Jeremiah were not afraid. Since the beginning, they have installed a stubborn playing strategy from the start. The results were proven. Even though they were matched in the second game, they managed to complete the rubber match with a score of 21-17, 15-21, 21-11.
“Before playing, Pram and I talked. We really wanted to stick with the first game,” said Yeremia about the secret of his strategy in the release of PBSI.
“In the second game we were ahead but for some reason suddenly our communication did not go well. Focus was also shaky, finally they were able to turn things around and continue to excel,” he added.
Moving on to the third game, Pramudya / Yeremia were instructed to focus more and hold the ball ahead by their coach, Aryono Miranat.
“In the third game, Koh Ar (Aryono Miranat, men’s doubles coach) said to play more focused and be more daring to play forward. Pram was also asked to continue in front because he was more deadly in that area,” said Yeremia.
“I ended up feeling better on the back cover. Attacking him was also better. Koh Ar also told me to smack Rasmusen. That was the key to today’s victory,” he continued.
Pramudya / Yeremia acknowledged this victory as the result of their hard work during the preparation period at Pelatnas PBSI Cipayung. They add many hours of practice by themselves. “I think what we are doing is starting to have an effect on our performances, especially in this tournament,” said Pramudya.
“We have the same vision and mission. So we agreed to fight together as well. We are sure what we are planting now we will reap later,” he said later.
In the semifinals, Pramudya / Yeremia will compete for the final ticket against the French doubles, Christo Popov / Toma Junior Popov. The two have never met in an international tournament. However, the match has the potential to be fierce because the second rank is not far enough. The French doubles ranks 42.
Semifinal Spain Masters 2021 will take place Saturday (22/5/2021) starting at 14.00 local time. Pramudya / Yeremia vs duo Popov match will be presented on field 1 as the fifth performer.
