Daley Blind can grab a special record on Wednesday evening Ajax: should the defender come into action against Benficathen he will be the Ajax player with the most Champions Leaguecompetitions to his name.
In Ajax TV, there is extensive consideration of Blind’s ‘near record’. His father Danny has a special message for him. “I’m here to congratulate you on breaking a record – again -“, Blind senior already anticipates Wednesday evening’s game.
“Let’s go back to 2013, in the Arena: Ajax against FC Barcelona. Neymar, Puyol, Piqué, but also with the two midfielders Xavi and Iniesta. And yet another midfielder took the spotlight that night. And that was you. I want to congratulate you on another record,” said Danny.
Daley is clearly happy with his father’s words of praise. “Sweet”, that’s how the Ajax-routinier begins. “I often talk to my father, of course. He also says this often enough, but when you see it on video, it feels very good. It makes you emotional. He has achieved a lot and I have learned a lot from him. His words mean always something special for me.”
