Festival Prague Pride was officially launched on Monday, August 5 in the afternoon on Strělecký ostrov in the so-called “Pride Village”, which is an integral part of the festival event.

Several artists presented themselves on the stage, and the American ambassador to Prague, Bijan Sabet, came to greet and support the participants. The opening night was accompanied by yueen Just Karen along with the head of Radio Wave Bára Šichanová.
This year’s theme is family. “Family is where there is love. That is the motto we have chosen for this year. It is also a term that is used against us – traditional family. It serves to put us on the back burner,” said the festival’s program director Veronika at the opening Waiting.

According to Dočkalá, the festival offers a total of 213 events. This time, there are nine festival venues, including the village on Strelecky Island. The Fishery of the Scout Institute in Kampa with events for young people has recently been added.
Saturday parade through Prague
The most anticipated moment of Prague Pride is on Saturday rainbow paradewhich this year has the subtitle March for every family.

Participants will set off on Saturday at noon from the lower part Wenceslas Square. The organizers expect the participation of up to several tens of thousands of people. At the same time, they recommend everyone to come to Wenceslas Square at least an hour in advance and to plan your arrival on foot from the direction of Národní trády, náměstí Republiky or from the Můstek subway, as A tram line is being built in the upper part of Wenceslas Square and Jindřišská and Vodičkova streets are therefore less accessible.
Due to repairs in the vicinity of Prašná brány in addition, the route had to be changed slightly. So it will not lead classically from Václavák all the way to Na Příkopě Street, but will turn into Havířská Street and the procession will continue through Ovocný trh, to Celetná and then classically to Staroměstské náměstí, Pařížská street, across Čechův bridge to Letenské Sady, where everyone will be waiting ready Pride Park.

Safety measures and a new advice line
Within the whole festivalu Prague Pride prepared by the Prague police increased security measuresin view of the information brought by the Slovak National Criminal Agency about a planned terrorist attack on a similar event called Rainbow Pride, which took place last month in Slovakia.
For the safety of all participants festival this year, therefore, there are even more police and criminal investigators supervising than before. Police officers from the anti-conflict team, first-line patrols with long weapons with ballistic protection, criminal investigators from the department of extremism and terrorism, law enforcement units and other specialists are present. A police helicopter is also available.
In addition, a special counseling line has been newly established. The Prague police cooperates in the area of pre-trial violence with the organization In IUSTITIA, which has set up a counseling line for victims who have been attacked because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Counseling staff are available on the counseling line 773 177 636 and the free line 800 922 922, always from 12 noon to 10 p.m. The line is available not only in Czech, but also in English and Ukrainian.
