Given the alleged use of public resources by local governments for electoral purposes, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured this Thursday that they are practices that should be avoided and that we must trust that citizens want a true democracy.
“I can’t talk about the issue, only say that we must trust the people a lot, the people want an authentic democracy,” he responded in his daily press conference when asked by reporters about the alleged delivery of blue water tanks in the south of Puebla.
The president said in the National Palace that “before they distributed groceries, construction materials, goats, chickens, pigs, pigs,” that “they trafficked in people’s poverty” and that there was even the practice of collecting voter credentials in towns. where it was known that there would be votes against the regime.
“I don’t think that is happening, because I have a lot of trust in the people and the electoral authorities are in charge of reviewing it. In any case, it has to be avoided, because that cost a lot,” said López Obrador, who highlighted that in the past Mexico had a reputation for being a country in which electoral fraud was committed.
“Every time we went to an election, we suffered from fraud. Mexico also had a reputation for being one of the countries with the most electoral fraud in the world,” she commented.
