Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) plans to buy a number of the main weapons system equipment (defense equipment) of the TNI. The value is budgeted in the plan to reach Rp. 1.7 quadrillion, although the Ministry of Defense has denied this in terms of value.
The plan is contained in the draft Presidential Regulation (Perpres) on Fulfilling the Need for Defense and Security Equipment Equipment of the Ministry of Defense and the Indonesian National Army for 2020-2024.
In the draft presidential regulation, it is stated that Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto is the one who designed the needs of the Defense Ministry and TNI.
The budget allocation needed to buy defense equipment is US$ 124,995,000,000 (US$ 124.99 billion) or around Rp. 1,750,000,000,000 (quadrillion) or Rp. 1,750 trillion (exchange rate of Rp. 14,000/US$), as quoted by CNBC Indonesia. through these rules, Sunday (30/5/2021).
This budget includes the acquisition of Alpalhankam amounting to US$ 79,099,625,314, fixed interest payments for 5 Strategic Plans of US$ 13,390,000,000, and contingency and maintenance funds for Alpalhankam of US$ 32,505,274,686.
The draft regulation also states that the defense authority will borrow money from foreign countries. The loan plan has also been stated in this Presidential Regulation draft.
“Renbut (needs planner) has been allocated a total of US$ 20,747,882,720 on the List of Special Medium-Term Foreign Loan Plans for 2020-2024,”
“The difference from the Renbut amounted to US$ 104,247,117,280 which will be fulfilled in the 2020-2024 Strategic Plan,” the presidential draft said.
