Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Indonesian Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto is a hot topic of conversation. The reason is that in recent times, Prabowo has visited South Korea (South Korea) and was contacted by the Minister of Defense of the United States (US) Lloyd Austin.
Prabowo’s courtesy call to South Korean Defense Minister Suh Wook on Thursday (8/4/2021) went smoothly. Prabowo was greeted with a military ceremony as is customary for welcoming heads of state.

The official statement of the Public Relations Bureau of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia said that the event which was very warm, the two countries agreed to strengthen military cooperation which had been going well so far. The country of Ginseng also deliberately invited Prabowo to witness the launch of a fighter jet with Indonesia and South Korea KFX / IF-X.
Not only that, South Korean President Moon Jae In also welcomed Prabowo’s visit to launch the KF-X / IF-X fighter aircraft. Moon even invited Prabowo directly to his office.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday (31/3/2021) previously, Pentagon boss Austin contacted Prabowo and discussed matters regarding regional security. Including, the possibility of bilateral cooperation in the field of maritime defense.
“I had an earlier discussion this morning with Indonesian Defense Minister @Prabowo, where we discussed the area’s maritime security and opportunities to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation between the two countries,” Austin tweeted.
The two discussed disputes in the waters of the South China Sea (SCS), the coup in Myanmar, and defense cooperation between Indonesia and the US. Austin also had time to express his condolences for the bomb explosion at the Makassar cathedral.
