PAN General Chairperson (Ketum) Zulkifli Hasan or Zulhas said General Chairman of Gerindra Prabowo Subianto has pocketed the name of a figure chosen as vice presidential candidate. He said the name was agreed upon by Prabowo’s supporting parties in the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM).
“I told you earlier, two weeks ago the party leaders already, the party chairman at Pak Prabowo’s house, one party (proposed) 3 names, there was one that was agreed upon by all. Later, try asking Pak Prabowo, he has already pocketed it,” said Zulhas after a meeting at his home office on Jalan Widya Chandra, Jakarta, Friday (20/10/2023).
Asked whether his party would be relaxed if Erick Thohir was not chosen as vice presidential candidate, Zulhas confirmed that he would follow Prabowo’s decision as the proposed presidential candidate.
“Oh, if our coalition is the Advanced Indonesia Coalition, you see, the principle of deliberation and consensus will definitely obey the leader. If the presidential candidate has decided, everyone will definitely follow,” he said.
Furthermore, Zulhas did not deny or confirm whether the name of the vice presidential candidate was the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
“I can’t lead, I can’t lead,” he said.

Zulhas revealed the contents of the closed meeting which was also attended by Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia. He said that his party wanted to continue communication with parties in the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) after accompanying President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) abroad.
“I just came back from China and went to Riyadh. I only arrived in the afternoon because I was accompanying Mr. President for a long time. It’s been a long time since I’ve met the party leaders, so I’ve communicated. I said they’re here, there’s a lot of people coming here,” said Zulhas after the meeting in Jalan Widya Chandra, Jakarta, Friday (20/10).
Regarding determining the vice presidential candidate, Zulhas said the parties were still continuing to finalize. He brought up various proposed names for vice presidential candidates that Prabowo had put forward.
“Yes, of course there is discussion, if the parties are, PAN proposes A, B proposes this. Yes, in fact there is already a name, most of them agree. For example, my proposal, for example, A objects to B’s proposal, there are those who object, Mr. Prabowo already knows that most of them , because (the meeting) was closed at that time,” he said.
