Prabowo Seeks Advice from SBY on Ideal Government Cabinet Formation

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Political observer from Esa Unggul University Jamiluddin Ritonga suspects that presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto asked for advice from the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia and Chairman of the High Council of the Democratic Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) to form an ideal government cabinet.

Jamiluddin assessed that SBY had experience in forming a cabinet, because he had been President for 10 years.

This was conveyed by Jamiluddin in response to the meeting between Prabowo and SBY in Cikeas on Friday (23/2/2024) last night.

Initially, Jamiluddin said, SBY and Prabowo could discuss contemporary politics in the country, especially the possibility of candidate pairs (paslon) number 3 and 1 using the right of inquiry.

“This issue is crucial for candidate pair 02, because it relates to the possibility of fraud that is being accused of the Prabowo-Gibran pair,” said Jamiluddin when asked for confirmation, Sunday (25/2/2024).

According to Jamiluddin, this accusation could have major political implications for national political stability.

Therefore, Jamiluddin said, Prabowo might ask for input from SBY to anticipate all possibilities if the right to inquiry actually occurred.

“This includes, of course, efforts to thwart the realization of the right to inquiry,” he said.

Then, he estimated that Prabowo might ask for input regarding the structure of the government’s future cabinet.

Jamiluddin believes that Prabowo will definitely ask SBY for advice, who has experience as the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia.

“Prabowo may also ask for input regarding the ideal cabinet structure. SBY’s input is very reasonable because he is experienced in forming a cabinet,” said Jamiluddin.

“So, before preparing cabinet personnel, Prabowo seems to want to map out a cabinet structure that is efficient and in line with national and global demands. SBY seems to have mastered things like that so his input will be useful for Prabowo,” he said again.

Previously, Democratic Party Chairperson Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) revealed that Democratic Party High Council Chair Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Gerindra Party Chairperson Prabowo Subianto met at Puri Cikeas, Bogor; West Java on Friday, February 23 2024.

However, AHY admitted that he had not received any information about the contents of the meeting.

“To be honest, I haven’t gotten the story myself. “So, after this I want to hear too,” said AHY at the Vice President’s Official Residence, Menteng, Jakarta, Saturday (24/2/2024).

However, AHY admitted that he was happy if SBY and Prabowo met often. According to him, this shows the public that the two of them are friends with each other.

“So Pak Prabowo, with good intentions, wants to listen to input from Pak SBY,” he said.

“Pak SBY also wants to provide input and experience with good intentions that might be useful,” said AHY again.

Lastly, he hopes that the relationship between Prabowo and SBY can be followed by other national figures.

AHY believes that communication between political figures must be carried out frequently, even though it is not always done openly.

“But there is really good intention to provide mutual support, I think it’s very good,” said AHY.
