REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) asked its staff, namely the Riau Islands Provincial Campaign Team (TKD Kepri) to withdraw the police report against the Batam Bawaslu Chair and the provincial Bawaslu Chair. The report was made because Bawaslu removed the billboard for presidential and vice presidential candidate number 2.
Deputy Chairperson of TKN, Habiburokhman, explained that TKD made a police report because they felt they were being installed billboard at the Welcome to Batam monument does not violate the provisions. The reason is, the KPU allows the installation of campaign props there.
Nevertheless, he said, the report has now caused a stir. Apart from that, TKN believes that such issues should be followed up by making a complaint to the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP).
“That’s why we ask them (TKD Kepri) to remove the police. When it comes to this election, don’t go to the police, just go to the DKPP if you don’t like it,” said Habiburokhman to journalists at the TKN Media Center, South Jakarta, Thursday (4/1/2024).
The Deputy Chair of Commission III DPR RI does not yet know whether TKD has or has not withdrawn the report. What is clear is that his party has asked TKD Riau Islands to withdraw it.
Previously, the Riau Islands Bawaslu removed the Prabowo-Gibran billboard installed on the Welcome To Batam monument. Bawaslu argued that the KPU prohibited the installation of billboards on the monument.
However, TKD Prabowo-Gibran Kepri did not accept the removal because they had already obtained permission from the Batam City Government. Because of this, TKD reported the Chairman of the Riau Islands Bawaslu, Zulhardi Putra and the Chairman of the Batam City Bawaslu, Itolaha Gaho, to the Barelang Police on Monday (1/1/2024).
