Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto asked state leaders and officials not to create tension in conveying issues related to handling the pandemic Covid-19.
“The leaders (to) provide coolness, cause coolness, convey problems properly, don’t cause tension,” Prabowo said when he was the keynote speaker at the Defense Webinar held by Padjadjajar University, Friday (9/7).
Prabowo does not want these officials to look for problems in the midst of difficulties facing the Covid-19 pandemic. According to him, these challenges and difficulties must be faced together.
“Not exactly, I don’t know, but looking for a point to look for problems in the midst of us facing challenges and difficulties. I think that’s from me,” he said.
On that occasion, the General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party also asked that neither party would blaspheme each other. Prabowo is optimistic that the Covid-19 pandemic problem can be overcome.
“We must not blaspheme anyone, criticize well, but please we must achieve or build a calm, cohesive, we are optimistic, do not panic. We can overcome this danger and we will overcome it,” he said.
Prabowo then invited all parties to reduce unnecessary mobility in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. According to him, people must obey the government which is dealing with the pandemic.
“We have to be disciplined, the only way to reduce the infection rate is to reduce unnecessary mobility. So we really have to obey the leadership, to government officials, I ask everyone to take part,” he said.
Indonesia is entering the second wave of the spread of the corona virus. Positive cases of Covid-19 spiked sharply after the 2021 Eid holiday.
Entering July 2021, daily Covid-19 positive cases continue to break new records, with the highest case on July 8 reaching 38,391. Not only that, the number of deaths also broke a record on July 7, reaching 1,040 people.
The government then implemented Emergency PPKM in 122 districts/cities in Java-Bali from 3 to 20 July. Recently, the government decided to expand the coverage of Emergency PPKM in 15 regions outside Java-Bali.
