TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – United Development Party (PPP) will announce the preferred presidential candidate for 2024 at around 13.00 WIB today, Wednesday, April 26 2023. Acting Chairman of PPP Muhamad Mardiono will announce directly after the PPP national leadership meeting (rapimnas) held at his residence in the Sleman area, Yogyakarta, on Tuesday, April 25 2023, yesterday.
“Please be patient, wait for tonight’s decision what it will be like, tomorrow (April 26) at the same time we will announce the new People’s Market agenda,” he said. Mardiono on the sidelines of the National Rapporteurs, Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
As for the name of the Governor of Central Java who is also the presidential candidate for the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), reward Pranowo is said to be the presidential candidate agreed upon in the forum. Two sources Tempo internal PPP confirmed this.
This source explained that the dynamics of the forum for determining presidential candidates did not experience significant obstacles. The reason is that all DPW PPP unanimously agreed to nominate the Governor of Central Java.
The PPP’s decision to announce Ganjar is in accordance with the Secretary General’s prediction PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto. Previously, Hasto stated that this week there would be a political party that would declare support for Ganjar.
Hasto said the political pendulum would indeed move after his party through General Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri declared Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate. He said PDIP would also carry out political communication with other political parties. Nevertheless, he was reluctant to mention explicitly which party was meant.
“We’ll have to wait and see, that in the coming weeks there will be declarations from other political parties supporting the PDIP presidential candidate Mr Ganjar,” said Hasto in his statement, Monday, April 24, 2023.
Hasto explained that Megawati had given a message to Ganjar to be a wise and good leader. So, he said, Ganjar could see the Palace not only from the bright side, but also from the dark side.
Apart from that, Ganjar was also directed to understand that he would be responsible for the interests of the people, nation and state.
“Bu Mega’s message is not only addressed to Pak Ganjar, but also all PDIP cadres, bearing in mind that the presidential candidate, who is a cadre and party officer from PDIP, must be supported as one unit, the collective strength of the PDIP which is one with the people,” said Hasto.
Meanwhile, after Ganjar was declared PDIP presidential candidate, direct support came from the Hanura Party. Chairman of the Hanura Party Oesman Sapta Odang (OSO) stated that his party supports the Governor of Central Java as a presidential candidate.
“The Hanura Party has expressed support for Pak Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate,” said OSO at his residence in Kuningan, South Jakarta, Saturday, April 22, 2023.
OSO explained the reasons for choosing reward one of them is because he believes he can continue President Joko Widodo’s or Jokowi’s work program. Therefore, OSO believes that Ganjar is the only person who can continue Jokowi’s performance. “It is very extraordinary for him (to become a presidential candidate),” said OSO.
