FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — PPP politician Muhamad Arwani Thomafi said that the PDI-P presidential candidate (bacapres) Ganjar Pranowo received a lot of support from ulama in various regions.
“Pak Ganjar Pranowo received a very enthusiastic response from leaders at Islamic boarding schools in several areas, especially in East Java,” said Arwani in a written statement in Jakarta, Wednesday.
Arwani said Ganjar continued to hold friendships with ulama and in the last few days, Ganjar met kiai in East Java.
The former Governor of Central Java plans to continue sowan to kiai in various regions in Indonesia.
“We will increase this in several areas, including Central Java, West Java, DKI, Banten and other areas,” said Arwani.
Previously, the kiai and santri in Pasuruan wished Ganjar success as a leader in the future. This moment occurred when Ganjar was accompanied by his sowan wife to a number of large kiai in Pasuruan.
At that time, Ganjar also met KH Idris Hamid, the caretaker of the Pasuruan Salafiyah Islamic Boarding School and KH Muhammad Syaeful Huda, the caretaker of the Pasuruan Nurul Islam Islamic Boarding School.
“Hopefully Pak Ganjar will become president. He will succeed in becoming a trustworthy leader and will not forget NU,” said Hj Kuni Zakiyah Idris, wife of KH Idris Hamid.
Ulama in Cirebon Regency also stated that they support Ganjar. Because while leading Central Java, Ganjar often prioritized religious moderation as a long-term investment in maintaining harmony.
KH Rumli Kamali from the Al Huda Islamic Boarding School, Cirebon Regency, said that Ganjar always embraced all groups, including students, kiai and ulama.
