They are members of the PPP Supporting Prabowo-Gibran Forum (FPPPG). FPPPG Chairman Joko Purwanto said that the support given by PPP cadres to Prabowo was not recent but had been since 2009.
“We, the PPP family forum, declare ourselves to provide support to Prabowo-Gibran. This is not something new because since 2009 we have been loyal supporters of Prabowo Subianto,” he said at a press conference, Friday (8/12).
Joko denied that the FPPPG’s support for Prabowo-Gibran was considered a form of resistance to the PPP.
It is known that PPP has formed a coalition with PDIP, Perindo and Hanura to support the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD pair.
He claimed that the support given to Prabowo-Gibran was the aspirations of PPP cadres at the grassroots. Joko also believes that differences in attitudes within political parties are normal and do not need to be questioned.
“Essentially, as a large PPP family, this is a grassroots aspiration. So we show our friends and Pak Prabowo that the PPP remains loyal to supporting Prabowo Subianto,” he explained.
Joko claims that currently there are still many PPP cadres who are afraid to express support for the Prabowo-Gibran pair.
He believes that after the declaration from FPPPG, more PPP cadres will switch from Ganjar-Mahfud to Prabowo-Gibran.
“I believe that the support for Pak Prabowo from the PPP is extraordinary. But currently they may still be timid and timid. Starting today they will show their full support,” he said.
Joko believes that Prabowo is the only presidential candidate who is able to continue President Joko Widodo’s programs.
He also admitted that he was optimistic that support from PPP cadres would enable the Prabowo-Gibran pair to win the 2024 election in one round.
“Actually, without any calculations, everyone understands that Prabowo-Gibran will definitely win in one round. Therefore, adding support from us, PPP, God willing, will make it even more complete in 2024,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chair of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN), Ali Masykur Musa, admitted that he welcomed the support from the PPP grassroots.
According to him, additional support from PPP cadres will further increase the strength and potential for Prabowo-Gibran to win in the 2024 presidential election. Moreover, he said, a number of survey results show that Prabowo-Gibran’s electability level has almost reached 50 percent.
“I certainly accept and express my gratitude to the grassroots, Indonesian citizens who happen to be from the big PPP family,” he said.
“I believe we will win one round. Because almost all of today’s surveys have almost touched the number 50, so with his addition, PPP is even more confident,” he concluded.
