Acting Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) Mardiono is optimistic that Sandiaga Uno will soon be appointed as a Vice Presidential Candidate (cawapres) to accompany Ganjar Pranowo.
Mardiono said that Sandiaga’s chances of becoming Ganjar’s vice presidential candidate were already at 99 percent. While the remaining 1 percent is determined by God’s destiny.
“For PPP, I believe 99 percent of Sandiaga’s chance of becoming Ganjar Pranowo’s running mate. The 1 percent is God’s destiny,” Mardiono said after inaugurating the DPP Women’s Association for Development (WPP) board in Surabaya City, Sunday (30/7).
Mardiono said that the candidate for vice presidential candidate for Ganjar had narrowed down to five names. Besides Sandiaga, there are Erick Thohir, Andika Perkasa, Muhaimin Iskandar, and Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).
However, of the five names, only PPP and Sandiaga have declared their support for Ganjar. Therefore, according to him, Sandiaga’s chances are the highest.
“Today it has narrowed down from 10 names to five names. So apart from Sandiaga, the other four names already belong to other people. The only one left is PPP and that is Sandiaga,” he said.
In fact, Mardiono said that the Chairperson of the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) DPP, Puan Maharani, had given Sandiaga the leading code to become Ganjar’s cawapres.
“Our communication with PDIP is good. The first person mentioned by Ms. Puan was Sandiaga, right? So God willing, PPP is optimistic. Our communication is also intense, both to Mrs. Mega, to Ms. Puan, and to Mr. Hasto to carry out political communications,” he said.
“God willing, what we are planning for PPP to PDIP, namely Sandiaga to accompany Ganjar, God willing, will be accepted later,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Sandiaga Uno stated that he would continue to make efforts and work electorally for PPP’s victory in the 2024 Pileg and Presidential Elections.
“We will fight at Bappilu to win PPP, both in the Legislative Election, Presidential Election, and Regional Elections. So I am optimistic, because PPP has received extraordinary enthusiasm by carrying out our theme of focusing on economic development,” said Sandiaga who is now appointed as Chairman of Bappilu PPP.
Regarding one percent of God’s destiny, Sandiaga said he only made an effort, the rest was the will of Allah SWT.
“One percent is from Allah. God willing, we pray and endeavor. That we have to work hard, work smart, work thoroughly, and of course work sincerely, that is our focus,” he said.
