The Institutional Vice-Secretary of the PP, Esteban González Pons, harshly criticized the political asylum that Pedro Sanchez awarded to Edmundo Gonzalezrival of Nicolas Maduro in the last elections on July 28 of this year.
For the conservative Popular Party remove Edmundo Gonzalez from Venezuela without recognizing him as president-elect, “It is not doing a favor to Venezuelan democracy, but rather removing a problem from the dictatorship”said González Pons.
On the other hand, the Popular Party says that in Spain, Edmundo González has no “guarantees” and they fear that the diplomat could be returned “at any time” to the Venezuelan dictatorship.
“Just as the PSOE agreed with Maduro to bring him here, it can agree to take him away, if Maduro so wishes. Sánchez and the corrupt friends of Rodríguez Zapatero should be sparing with self-praise, and Cuba would do the same if asked.”González Pons indicated on his X account.
Edmundo González left Caracas for Spain early Sunday morning after it was confirmed that Spain had granted him political asylum.
