He People’s Party prevails in the 2023 municipal elections of Castro del Río. After 100% of the vote counted, the PP manages to improve the data from four years ago after adding seven councillors, two more than in 2019. For its part, Con Andalucía-IU has three, the same data as a PSOE that loses one compared to the previous elections. The Association of Voters for Castro manages to enter the plenary after adding a representative.
Castro del Rio It was one of the towns in Cordoba with the most political parties in dispute to take over the Mayor’s Office, with a total of six plates; At stake there are 13 councilors.
Currently, the PP He held the Mayor’s Office with four councilors, results that the mayor, Julio Criado, aspired to improve in order to govern alone. And he has achieved it after adding six, adding two more than in the 2019 elections.
And it is that the 2019 elections left a very fractured plenary, with three parties tied for councillors, four each: IU -it was the force with the most votes-, the PP and the PSOE.
The union of these last two with Neighbors for Castro del Río and Llano del Espinar, which achieved a mayor, gave rise to a tripartite that has divided the Mayor’s Office during the term among three first mayors, the last being the popular Julio Criado, for two years.
Everything indicates that the result of this Sunday will also leave a complicated plenary session. Manuel Merino attended as number one of IU; Salvador Millán headed the list of the PSOE; Francisco García Recio led the Group of Voters for Castro; Juan José Sastre was the head of the list of Forward Andalusia and, finally, María Inmaculada Navajas was the candidate for Vox.
