From the PP-DB, BSP and “There is such a people” rejected Boyko Borisov’s idea of a four-way coalition with GERB at the head and with its leader as prime minister. And they confirmed that the first elected political force did not hold talks with them.
PP co-chairman Asen Vassilev confirmed that the formation will not support Boyko Borisov’s proposal for a cabinet in a quadruple format and with him as prime minister, without the participation of “DPS – New Beginning”, APS and “Vazrazhdane”. Thus, he admitted that together they can manage GERB with PP-DB, BSP – United Left and ITN.
“And with Prime Minister Borisov… Let’s talk seriously. We do not agree, and I think we stated this clearly in the campaign, and our voters supported it,” refused Asen Vasilev on behalf of PP-DB.
And the BSP does not approve the proposal to participate in a cabinet with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. “At the moment, we are witnessing the setting of a condition for Boyko Borisov to be prime minister. It should not be forgotten that the BSP has a decision of the Congress not to support a GERB government, even more so to support Borissov. This option – Prime Minister Borissov – is not an option for support from the BSP”, the deputy from the “BSP – United Left” Nataliya Kiselova told the BNR.
ITN also rejected the possibility of a government with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. First, it must be clear what kind of majority would support such a government and what kind of policy it would implement, emphasized Toshko Yordanov. “This is a question in which one part of the answer is: ‘Boyko Borisov Prime Minister – absurd’, and the other – it is extremely early to answer, we do not yet have a Speaker of the National Assembly,” he commented. Yordanov pointed out that no one had talked to them yet, but he found out from his colleagues that GERB had not held talks with the other political forces either. “These statements are just someone saying something in front of the cameras,” commented the MP.
And according to the three formations with which Borisov hypothetically assumed that he could form a governing coalition, the legislative decisions and the legislative program must first be clear in order to reach the creation of a government.
“The commitment is with them, they are leading, they have to make the calls. And we are also clear – if there is going to be a government, it must be clear what policy it will implement, what the legislative program will be,” commented the MP from ITN to GERB.
Nataliya Kiselova also believes that the upcoming legislative decisions should be presented first. “This is the more reasonable thing,” believes the lawyer and associate professor of constitutional law.
According to Asen Vassilev, the parliament will also be blocked and will remain without a chairman until the legislative program is clear. This is also the condition to form a cabinet. “When there is a clear legislative program, a person should be elected who will make a commitment that it will happen within the terms laid down in it,” he said, quoted by BTA.
For Vassilev, the result of Raya Nazaryan and Andrey Tsekov was tied during the voting and it was not surprising that neither nominee got a majority.
His fellow party Lena Borislavova said on BNR that they will seek a consensus around the legislative program of the National Assembly, as they currently do not have a sufficient majority behind their declaration of a sanitary cordon around Peevski – only ITN, MECH and APS. “We will also initiate talks with all the parties in the National Assembly without Peevski, in order to seek a consensus around a work program in this parliament,” commented Borislavova.
ITN is seeking majority support for its proposal to have Silvi Kirilov temporarily head the parliament until a new incumbent is elected. So far, they have received the support of three of the parliamentary groups, in addition to theirs, they are awaiting the final decision of two more – PP-DB and “Vazrazhdane”. “There is an understanding in the ranks of “BSP-United Left”, “Morality, Unity, Honor” (MECH) and “Alliance for Rights and Freedoms” (APS) that this is a good option, said Toshko Yordanov, quoted by BTA.
Two other formations – PP-DB and “Vazrazhdane” – asked for time until Wednesday to discuss it. “This deadline until Wednesday should be used for this,” the ITN MP believes. “After that, if there is a majority, Mr. Kirilov will resign and the majority will elect a chairman,” Yordanov said.
