Madrid, May 29 (EFE) .- Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid) is the municipality with the highest income per capita in Spain, with 25,957 euros, and Níjar (Almería) is the one with the lowest income, with 6,253, according to the latest Urban Indicators of the National Institute of Statistics.
Of the 405 municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants, the three cities with the highest per capita income in 2016 were, in addition to Pozuelo, Boadilla del Monte (19,702 euros) and Las Rozas (19,340 euros), all of them in the Community of Madrid.
By contrast, the cities with the lowest per capita income were, in addition to Níjar, Alhaurín el Grande (Málaga), with 6,629 euros, and Los Palacios and Villafranca (Seville), with 6,550 euros.
The first major city to appear on the INE list with the highest per capita income is Madrid, in fifteenth place, with 15,717 euros, followed four places later by Barcelona (15,389).
The last positions are for municipalities in Andalusia, since apart from the three mentioned, Vicar (Almería) with an income of 6,634 euros, Isla Cristina (Huelva), with 6,823, and the Almería residents of Barbate and Sanlúcar de Barrameda, with 6,894 and 7,032 euros, respectively.
