PowNed reports the abuse of a reporter on Urk | NOW

Omroep PowNed has filed a complaint after reporter Mark Baanders and a cameraman were assaulted at the Sionkerk in Urk on Sunday. That said broadcaster Dominique Weesie in the talk show on Sunday evening Humberto.

Baanders asked questions to churchgoers who attended a church service despite the corona measures. Hardly any churchgoer benefited from this and some even resorted to physical violence.

For example, Baanders and the cameraman were attacked by two men and the reporter was hit by a car. The events were clearly portrayed, but the police officer present initially dismissed the suspects with a warning.

The driver of the car was later arrested, the other two men not yet. Police said in a statement that no action was taken to prevent a possible escalation.

Weesie finds it incomprehensible that the men could just walk away. “A reporter of mine is being assaulted here. Other colleagues have been intimidated.”

The broadcaster further said he should perhaps have considered securing his employees in Urk. “So we are already ready to go to a church service on Sunday morning and have to decide whether or not to bring security.”
