The acoustic designer Idibri has taken advantage of the innovative design and acoustics of the stage Q2home of Austin FC, to install more than fifty amplifiers Powersoft Mezzo, Ottocanali y de la serie X.
More than fifty amplifiers from the manufacturer Powersoft are powering a high-impact audio installation in the stage Q2the new headquarters of the first professional sports team in Austin (Texas -USA), whose construction was completed last year and designed to accommodate 20,500 fans on game days, although it is also used for other activities.
According IdibriA company of O’Brien Rooms and the consultancy that designed the audio, acoustics, video and information technology of the new venue, “Q2 is a 3.0 stadium”, that is, a venue equipped with the latest technology to improve the public experience both in its main function and sports venue, as well as during other different events.
Precisely to improve the event experience, the architecture firm Gensler designed a large acoustically resonating marquee that, in addition to keeping fans cool and dry, amplifies the excitement and roar of the crowd on match or concert day.
To deliver a quality audio experience, Ben Boshansfrom Idibri, designed the sound system of the Q2 around the amplifiers Half, Ottocanali and the X series of Powersoft, in order to manage a distributed system that is carefully planned to fulfill the client’s request for “clear and impressive audio”.
Specifically, thirteen Ottocanali 12K4 DSP+D and six of the model 4K4 DSP+D they drive the main loudspeakers, which are hung from the main roof structure, and the spare channels feed the audio in the concourse areas of the stadium.
“The Ottocanali platforms offer the right power for the loudspeakers: the density of eight channels / 2 RU with Dante and their compatibility i make them ideal”, says Boeshans.
Four X8 and two X4 X-series amplifiers power the stadium’s subwoofers, while Idibri has strategically distributed and hidden twenty-seven Powersoft compact amplifiers throughout the stadium. Half AD to feed the spaces premium.
“The Mezzo AD amplifiers act as matrices for the Dante sources of the entire installation and the local analog inputs so that users can select their preferred audio source in each space”, explains this person in charge.
Add to that the associated reduction in audio cabling to/from each space, “which has been a cost-efficient approach to providing discrete stereo amplification in each room for personalized experiences for each user.”
All 52 amps are paired with loudspeakers Fulcrum Acousticand connected via Dante to a DSP Q-SYS from QSC already a console Yamaha QLa system was installed by Clear Global.
All Powersoft systems integrate Class D amplifier technology, allowing for an extremely dense amplifier package, which in turn saves rack space.
In addition, the Ottocanali amplifiers are integrated into the stadium’s public address/voice alarm system. Both these models and the X-series have extensive monitoring capabilities, including live impedance and redundant outputs, ideal for these applications where the ability to deliver clear and intelligible messages is critical.
Idibri’s team also made use of system design software HarmonyPlus from Powersoft to provide support and get the most out of the system with live sound reinforcement, music playback, and business and evacuation messages.
