The emergency manager in Våler fire and rescue service, Kjell Ivar Berget, informs us The Easterner.
The breach must have occurred in the Braskereidfoss power station.
– Parts of the station are under water and the water is rising, so there is a crisis, says Berget to the newspaper.
Over 800 electricity customers are without power as a result of the breach.
Innlandet police district has decided to introduce airspace restrictions around the Braskereidfoss power plant in Våler municipality, according to a press release. The restrictions apply to drones and all types of aircraft.
The decision has been taken out of consideration for the safety of the police and others in connection with the area, the police say.
According to NRK the police receive assistance from the bomb squad and the armed forces.
Record high water flow
– Very serious
The fire service is on the scene and Elvia has sent crews to locate and correct the fault.
The pumping station that supplies water to the entire population of Våler does not have electricity, and work is being done to connect an aggregate for this.
– This is very serious and we are working on the case, says Berget The Easterner.
Duty commander Knut Arild Bakke in the Innlandet 110 central informs that they are working on site.
– We try to secure what we can of values. We support with crews, says Bakke to Dagbladet.
Evacuated: – A bit unnecessary
Working on it
Elvia’s press contact, Morten Schau, says that they are working to reconnect customers to the electricity supply.
– 843 customers lost power and we are in the process of reconnecting 475 of them to the network, says Schau to Dagbladet.
It is Hafslund’s power station in question, where Elvia has a transformer station, according to Schau.
Due to an error, the floodgates at the power plant are said not to have opened, which led to water entering the power plant itself.
– The ingress of water has led to the stations having suffered major damage and cannot be driven, says communications manager Ragnhild B. Abrante to The Easterner.
Dagbladet updates the case.
