Jason David Frank, better known from the original Power Rangersseries, died at the age of 49. His spokesman informed the American media on Sunday.
A cause of death has not been disclosed, but insiders say the American actor committed suicide.
Frank made his acting debut in 1993 in Power Rangers-series. Initially, the actor was only going to star in fifteen episodes, but due to the popularity of his character Tommy Oliver, he returned.
In the series, Frank’s character was first a green Power Ranger. Later he became white. He has also been seen in subsequent series and films of the franchise.
Besides being an actor, Frank was also a martial artist. He leaves behind four children.
