The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has reported continued power outages in some parts of Panay Island due to the Visayas grid’s system disturbances. On April 29, the NGCP reported another disturbance causing multiple Panay power plants to disengage from the transmission system, resulting in power loss for areas under AKELCO, CAPELCO, ANTECO, MORE Power, ILECO I, ILECO II, and ILECO III. This comes after two disturbances on Thursday and Friday, which have since been resolved, but placed the Visayas grid on red alert, downgraded to yellow alert on April 28. Due to insufficient capacity, the NGCP has implemented manual load dropping or rotational brownouts to maintain grid integrity. Meanwhile, the NGCP is working to synchronize and provide power to the transmission system.
