The children’s hospital in Zurich is back online after a power outage
The electricity went out at the children’s hospital in Zurich in the afternoon. The hospital is now 90 percent online again. The reason is still unclear – the safety of the patients was ensured according to the hospital.
The power failure occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on Thursday and not only affected the Zurich Children’s Hospital in general, but also sensitive areas such as the intensive care unit and operating rooms. According to media officer Miriam Knecht, the reason for the power outage was not yet known.
Knecht stated on the hospital’s website: “The crisis team has been deployed. We are working flat out to restore the power supply.”
The power supply in the supply-critical areas was guaranteed at all times by the uninterruptible power supply, according to Knecht. The emergency generators have been put into operation and the nationwide power supply on the hospital site is now being restored step by step.
In the evening, the hospital announced that it was fully connected to the regular power supply again. All hospital areas are in operation and patient care is ensured. “Investigations are still being carried out in the background and final measures for an optimal power supply are being implemented,” it said.(as/hot water)
