The point is that all these bickerings have generated uncertainty, an aspect that hinders any political transition. The new government arrives weakened and conditioned on many issues, plus the wear and tear that this issue has meant for all the actors involved, especially those who maintain the resistance against the coup.
Arévalo will be able to govern like this, he will be able to keep his promises, banish that criminal gang that co-opts the Public Ministry and will manage to banish corruption in the next four years. I doubt it. But we will have to start somewhere.
At this point, prosecutor Curruchiche reminds us that from the prosecutor’s office that he directs, the attempts to carry out the coup d’état continue their course and have not given up on canceling the change of command. In any case, it will have to be recognized that the attorney general continues to resist and is clinging to the position with a more than shameful stubbornness.

The truth is that Giammattei is history. His legacy can only be summarized with one name: Miguel Martínez. Beyond this sinister character, his management is negative in every way. Without shame and with more impudence than before, he still manages the corrupt threads of Congress, which may be the last bastion of a corrupt pact to, ultimately, pressure and restrict the management of the next government.
Already resigned to leaving a part of power and managing their golden retirement free of criminal prosecution for misdeeds committed in the exercise of office, some who will be former deputies and former officials, tie the threads of impunity, so that justice never reaches them .
In this relaxation, the only certain thing is the decomposition of Guatemalan politics. Each individual who defends the coup, thinks that the thief and corrupt Jimmy Morales is a hero and that Arzú is actually an appointee of the Spanish faction, also shows that the ideological struggle is being beneficial for fascism and being pro-life and anti-chairo It’s cool to be accepted as part of the Creole elite. The positive thing is that the people have already woken up and support Bernardo’s victory. As is usual in these cases, the losers insist on their objectives, somewhat to weaken the next government, as well as to generate instability and uncertainty. But sustaining the mobilization, beyond the inauguration of the new ruler, will be vital to consolidate a fundamental social change for the country and for the marginalized people. This can only be achieved on the basis of unity of action and the clarity that grants people’s desires.
