Who would have thought? VfL Potsdam is the leader of the 2nd handball Bundesliga! Our handball players from the 1. VfL Potsdam continued their successful run and, after beating Essen in the cup and at home against Bietigheim, they also won in the first away game against HSG Konstanz, promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. 31:23 (15:11) the protégés of the coaching team Bob Hanning and Fabian Lüdke won deservedly and clearly after 60 minutes of good class.
After an even start, the Havel visitors clearly gained the upper hand from the 20th minute and showed almost flawless handball in defense and attack before and after the break. Strong defensive performances from Thiele and Hansson in the center block and saves from substitute Mark Ferjan set the stage for outstanding pace of play at this stage of the game. The result: after a good 40 minutes and a lead of 26:14, the game was practically decided. VfL managed the last minutes more or less skilfully and not only celebrated the well-deserved 4:0 points, but also the lead in the table. Anyone who wants to watch our boys defend this first position can do so next Saturday at home against Eulen Ludwigshafen.
