Potsdam: UCI cinema saves electricity and shuts down escalators

To save electricity, the station’s UCI escalators are currently out of service. In the station itself, however, they run non-stop. In the Stern-Center you trade according to your rush – and in the Ikea branch in Potsdam you have no choice.

Potsdam. For the time being, the UCI Luxe cinema in the Potsdamer Bahnhofspassage has decided to close two escalators leading to the cinema. “To save resources and reduce energy costs”, as a sign proclaims in front of the closed escalators, next to which there is a staircase. An elevator is available as a barrier-free alternative for guests of the Potsdam cinema. Other chain stores in Potsdam are also currently considering keeping electricity costs as low as possible. Constantly running escalators or moving walks, which cannot be individually adapted to a corresponding number of visitors, appear to be a problem in the context of the energy crisis.

The escalator for the UCI cinema in Potsdam Central Station is currently out of service.
